Wolfgang Bankl is an Austrian opera singer with a bass and bass-baritone voice. In 2013 nominated as “Kammersänger”. Since 1993 ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera, with roles such as Papageno, Leporello, Figaro, Ochs, La Roche, Klingsor and Bartolo. Debut at the “Wiener Festwochen” as Oberlin in Rihm’s „Jakob Lenz“ and at the Scala as Zeta in „La vedova allegra“. 2014 as Doctor in Bergs “Wozzeck“ at Carnegie Hall and 2010 at the “Theater an der Wien”. He primarily studied the violin. Besides jazz music (E-Bass), he completed his vocal studies at the Vienna Conservatory of Music under Dominique Weber, as well as song and oratorio under David Lutz and opera under Ks. Waldemar Kmentt, which he finished in 1989 with distinction.
