Built: in the 11^th century mentioned as the ancestral seat of the Schleunz family, followed by other owners: the Habsburgs, in the middle of the 14^th century, Georg Bayer von Niederdürnbach, began the reconstruction after the destruction by Hussite troops, for about 300 years the Count Kuefstein, replaced by Barons von Sazenhofen and later privately owned.
Propriator: The castle is privately owned by the family Eckert and their daughter, the actress Andrea Eckert.
