Roland Glassl

Since 2018 professor for viola at the Munich University of Music. From 2004–2018 professor for viola at the University for Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main. Roland Glassl is a lecturer for viola masterclasses at the Allegro Vivo summer academy in Horn, Waldviertel for several years, because teaching has always been an important complement to performing.

1999–2015 violist of the Mandelring Quartet, numerous concerts with the Trio Charolca. Soloist with conductors such asSir C. Davis, H. Bäumer, H. Griffiths et al. Concerts with Tonkuenstler Orchestra Niederoesterreich, China National Opera House Symphony Orchestra, German Philharmonic Orchestra etc. Performances at Wigmore Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts Peking, Berlin Philharmony. Chamber musician with L. Fleischer, M. Fried, P. Kuusisto, M.Sanderling. Prizewinner at “Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition“ (as the first german winner ever) and “Washington International Competition for Strings”.

Studied at the University of Music Munich and at Indiana University in Bloomington/ USA
