Ensemble kammerfunk

Concerts

With violin, clarinet, cello, and accordion, kammerfunk entices masters from different eras out of their shells. This unique ensemble brings Bach and Mahler together in their world and arranges encounters between Johann and Richard Strauss. Their musical journey takes them from classical music to the Balkans, to the Middle East, and back again to the cozy atmosphere of Vienna’s wine taverns.

In a varied repertoire, the four musicians—violinist Stefan Pöchhacker, clarinetist Martin Rainer, cellist Michael Günther, and accordionist Bogdan Laketic—focus on the musical essence of the oft-cited “world capital of music.” The charming wit of these four musicians surprises the audience with unprecedented intensity and opens up a refreshing perspective on Vienna’s musical legacy.

The international ensemble consists of three musicians from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and a solo accordionist. With their playing experience and idiosyncratic instrumentation, kammerfunk creates an unmistakable sound. In a playful approach to tradition, the ensemble presents well-known as well as rarely performed works.
