Professor for cello at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Wide range as musician from period to modern cello. worldwide career playing with orchestras such as Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philhamonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig. Collaboration with conductors such as I. Fischer, E.-P. Salonen, T. Koopman and Sir R. Norrington. Constantly performances i.a. at London Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, New York Lincoln Center. More than 30 CD-recordings including all cello suites of Bach. Studies in Amsterdam with D. Boeke and A. Bylsma, later with p. Katz in the USA and with W. Pleeth in the UK. Awarded with the Dutch Music Prize.
