Born in Salzburg in 1968, Michael Dangl has been an actor with the Karawane Salzburg theatre company since the age of four. He has performed in Salzburg, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Koblenz, and since 1998 at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, where he has appeared in over 70 roles in around 3,000 performances.Since 2018, he has been a guest soloist at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady (directed by Josef E. Köpplinger), and since 2022, he has played Frosch in Die Fledermaus (directed by Josef E. Köpplinger) at the same theatre. He has played leading roles in cinema and TV films and spent 10 years at the Reichenau Festival. He has also appeared on radio, given readings of his own programmes and performed at international music festivals. He is the author of six books, CDs and plays. In 2001, he received the European Culture Prize, and in 2023 he was appointed Kammerschauspieler (chamber actor) and awarded the Raimund Ring by the Ferdinand Raimund Society. In 2024, he will appear in a new production of ‘Der Alpenkönig und der Menschenfeind’ (The King of the Alps and the Misanthrope) by Ferdinand Raimund (Rappelkopf) at the Theater in der Josefstadt (director: Josef E. Köpplinger).
