Manca Kosmač (2002) began her musical education studying violin at the OEKGBL with Prof. Polona Češarek and later continued at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana under Prof. Janez Podlesek. At the Academy of Music in Ljubljana she commenced her viola studies with Prof. Maja Rome, where she will complete her master’s degree this year. She is currently enrolled in a year-long Erasmus exchange at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Thomas Selditz. At the TEMSIG Competition (Competition of Young Slovenian Musicians), she achieved notable results: a gold plaque with a piano trio in the string chamber music category (2017), a silver plaque in violin (2018), a second prize in the string chamber music category (2020), another silver plaque in violin (2021), and last year she received the 1st prize in the viola category III.a. Since 2020, Manca has been an active violist with the chamber string orchestra Camerata Laibach, with which she has received awards both in Slovenia and abroad.
Since 2023, Manca Kosmač has also been a member of the FB BANDA string orchestra, working under the artistic direction of clarinetist Mate Bekavac. She regularly performs as a substitute with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Orchestra and various other chamber ensembles. In 2023, she was a member of the EUYO orchestra, participating in three projects (String quartet residency in Austria, a Summer tour across Europe and Mexico tour). She joined the GMJO orchestra in 2024 and was invited to both the Spring and Summer tours. In 2024 and 2025 Manca was selected for the Swiss International Music Academy (SIMA), for which she also received a residency scholarship this year. With the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, she was an academy violist in the 2024/25 season. Manca has participated in masterclasses with Thomas Selditz, Christian Tetzlaff, Nobuko Imai, Wonji Kim Ozim, Emile Samama Cantor, Garth Knox, Susanne van Els, Anke Schigenhelm, Raphael Kasprian, Sreten Krstić and many others.
