Elisabeth Leonskaja
Elisabeth Leonskaja has long been among the most celebrated pianists of our times. In a world dominated by commercial media, she has remained true to herself and to music, in the tradition of great Russian musicians such as David Oistrakh, Sviatoslav Richter and Emil Gilels. Like them, she has always stood for the quintessence of music even under the most difficult political conditions. And like them, she has never been interested in showy appearances. On stage, however, she overwhelms the audience with the power of the music; this has been the substance and the goal of her life.
Elisabeth Leonskaja is a lecturer at the Allegro Vivo summer academy. In August, the master class will take place in Horn, Waldviertel, near Vienna.
Soloist with the top international orchestras, such as New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Zurich Tonhalle Orchester, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig under the baton of conductors such as K. Masur, C. Davis, M. Jansons. Welcomed guest at festivals such as Salzburg Festival, Vienna and Lucerne Festival and Schleswig-Holstein Festival. Concerts as chamber musician with the Emerson, Borodin and Artemis Quartets. Numerous CD recordings, awarded with the Caecilia prize and Diapason d´Or. Honorary member of the Konzert-haus Vienna. Awarded with the Austrian Cross of Honor, First Class. In 2020 she received the International Classical Music (ICMA) Lifetime Achievement Award.
2021 Elisabeth Leonskaja is awarded as intrumentalist of the year by Opus Klassik.
