1970–2011 professor for cello at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Education of young cellists for all Austrian orchestras for decades now. Served as solocellist for 47 years. As of 1959 solocellist of the Philharmonic Orchestra Graz (Styria), as of 1963 solocellist of the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, as of 1973 principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the State Opera Vienna for 33 years. Performed with numerous popular musicians as soloist, chamber musician and principal cellist. He performed for the first time in the age of 12. Studied with R. Krotschak, S. Popoff and P. Casals.
